My name is North Cowper.
I'm a woman artist and potter. I'm also a tutor and traveller.
As I venture around making art, I write stories about what I find. You can browse them on my blog ˚ʚ 🌱 ₊˚✧ ゚. ✮.
Originating from New Zealand, I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts before beginning to teach pottery at Driving Creek, working alongside some of the country's best clay artists.
These days, I'm living in Spain with my partner, making new art from the little apartment that we call home.
There is great joy in shaping clay with our hands, connecting us back to the oldest known art form in humanity. After four years of teaching, I have found that clay is not only a fabulous material for all age groups, but that pottery can bring us back in touch with ourselves. Tactile, intuitive and reusable, clay is fantastic for explorative and curious people, making it a great material for artists and hobbyists.
